KARACHI: Police have questioned at least 20 students and teachers affiliated with the University of Karachi as investigations related to the last week’s suicide blast in the varsity have widened.

Three Chinese nationals, including two women, were among four people killed in the blast carried out at the entrance of the Confucius Institute on April 26.

The evidences during the investigations have revealed that more than one facilitator in the university provided assistance to the female suicide attacker. Geo-fencing of the area is in progress to spot the local facilitators, while the officials are doing rounds of investigations to look for them.

The officials have contacted the Federal Investigation Agency’s cybercrime wing as they found literature on social media related to the incident. The investigation sources revealed that people involved in the attack had communicated through social media.

The investigations further revealed that the suicide bomber visited the university more than once.

A day ago the officials took custody of a university’s MPhil student and confiscated his laptop and foreign literature found from his possession.

Following the blast, it was revealed that out of the 155 security cameras installed in the university, more than 100 are not functional and the new person in charge of security doesn’t even have access to the control room.

Banned militant group Baloch Liberation Army had claimed responsibility for the attack on social media and shared the image of a woman they say carried out the attack.
