At least four terrorists were killed in “an exchange of fire” during an intelligence-based operation on late March 27, in the general area of Jhallar Fort, North Waziristan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Monday.

According to the armed forces’ media wing, the security operation was conducted on a tip-off. “One of the terrorists was identified as Zar Saadullah while identification of others was underway,” it read, adding that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists’ possession.

The statement claimed that the terrorists were actively involved in plotting against security forces. “The local population lauded the operation and expressed full support to the armed forces in their efforts to end terrorism menace,” it read.

Pakistani forces have been conducting search operations in the tribal districts in order to keep peace in the area, which shares a border with Afghanistan. Pakistan, on several occasions, has demanded that the Afghanistan government ensures that their soil is not used against the country. Moreover, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has also expressed hope that the interim Afghan government would uphold such a promise as peace talks with the Taliban had ended without any result because they had “unfair demands.”

Moreover, the ISPR on Saturday said that security forces had killed six terrorists in an IBO in the area of the Nagao mountains near Sibi in Balochistan.

As per details, security forces were alerted about the presence of terrorists upon which they carried out a clearance operation. During this, terrorists tried to escape from their hideout, resulting in the exchange of fire that led to six terrorists being killed.

In addition, arms and ammunition have were recovered which were intended to be used by the terrorists for disrupting peace and security in the area, the statement said.

During the operation, Sepoy Nisar was martyred while two other soldiers were injured.

The ISPR had added: “The terrorists were associated with the Baloch Nationalist Army and were involved in recent security incidents in Sibi and surrounding areas. They were also reportedly linked to the January 20 blast in Lahore that claimed at least two lives.”
