Ashfaq Ahmed remembered on 17th death anniversary

Renowned writer Ashfaq Ahmed was remembered on his 17th death anniversary on Tuesday with tributes paid to his services in the field of Urdu literature.

On the occasion, a social media user quoting the chairman of the National Language Authority describing how Ahmed's death “created a vacuum in the literary world of Pakistan”.

Ahmed, who authored more than 20 books during his life time, was born in India on August 22, 1925.

After migrated to Pakistan, he graduated from the Government College Lahore in Urdu literature where he met Bano Qudsia, who was also an eminent writer. They later married.

His works included novels, short stories and plays for television and radio as well. Among his renown books are Gadarya, Aik Muhabbat Soo Afsaney and Manchaley ka Sauda.

He was awarded President's Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz for meritorious services in the field of literature and broadcasting.
