At least half of Karachi was deprived of electricity on Wednesday, reported Aaj News, as a technical fault occurred in the national grid station.

The fault led to the tripping of K-Electric’s high tension line, while multiple grid stations of the city closed.

Many areas of the city, including Clifton, Saddar, Mehmoodabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jouhar, PID colony, Bahadurabad and other areas of the central district were affected by the fault.

According to the report, so far the fault has not been identified by the power operational teams.

In a tweet, K-Electric said it is monitoring the situation and will continue updating the space.

The power failure added to the woes of Karachiites as the city witnessed hot weather since morning despite the prediction of rain in the provincial capital.

This is a developing story. It will be updated accordingly.
