Intermittent torrential rains in Islamabad and Rawalpindi inundated low-lying areas and flooded the houses.

An alert has been issued to all concerned agencies to deal with any emergency situation.

Rainwater from the Twin Cities accumulated in the areas adjacent to Tipu Road, Muslim Colony, Sadiqabad, Liaquat Bagh and Committee Chowk, while in many areas rainwater also flooded the houses.

According to MD WASA Raja Shaukat, the level of Nullah Lai did not rise more than 10 feet due to less rain in Islamabad. However, Rawalpindi received more rain than Islamabad.

According to the Meteorological Department, 111 mm of rain was recorded. Due to heavy rains, the low-lying areas were inundated.

Due to heavy rains, the GT Road began to look like a pond, vehicles were stuck in the water at Rawat and the traffic system was disrupted, while passengers coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad were facing severe problems.

Punjab govt issues alert in view of heavy rainfall

The Punjab government has issued an alert to in view of heavy rains.

Heavy rains are continuing in Rawalpindi city of Punjab province, in view of which the concerned agencies have been issued alert.

The Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that the administration, PDMA and Rescue 1122 should make complete arrangements and be ready for relief activities at all times.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar also ordered immediate drainage of water from low lying areas.

Usman Bazdar stressed that drainage should be done in minimum time through necessary machinery and negligence in drainage works would not be tolerated.

The Chief Minister further said that instead of sitting in the offices, the officers should go out in the field themselves and ensure implementation of the plan drawn up for water extraction.
