Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said on Saturday 33 per cent of people aged 50 years and above had received at least one dose of Covid vaccination.

In a message on Twitter, Umar, who is also chair of the National Command and Operation Centre, said: “The age group is more vulnerable to serious diseases due to Covid.”

He asked people to encourage others who fall in the age group to get themselves vaccinated.

The federal minister said that four weeks back 21 per cent people of the same age group had been inoculated.

According to the statistics published by the NCOC, so far more than 3.6 million people have been vaccinated against the virus across the country, while on Friday 974,720 people were inoculated.

Meanwhile, students aged between 16 to 18 years who intend to go abroad had been allowed to get Moderna vaccine.

On Friday, the NCOC said in a message on Twitter that vaccines would be administered to the students on checking valid visa or university documents.
