SECP issues warning letters to employees over involvement in data leak

ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on Tuesday issued warning letters to two officers and a show-cause notice to eight of its employees including additional director of market surveillance department Arslan Zafar. over the issue of data leak concerning the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information retired Gen Asim Bajwa and his family members.

The show-cause notices were issued by SECP’s HR department and received by additional director of market surveillance department Arslan Zafar, joint director (JD) of IT department Zahid Hussain, deputy director of IT Hussain Saros, assistant joint director IT Muhammad Sohail, deputy director IT Hammad Ahmed, assistant joint director (AJD) and Companies Registration Office (CRO) Sadiq Shah, AJD and CRO Abil Ali Abid, and AJD and CRO Syed Jamal Zaidi. Warning letters were issued to the director IT department Amir Waheed and management executive CRO Zulfiqar Shams asking them to be careful about any suspicious movement in future.

According to the notice issued, Arslan Zafar reportedly violated the SECP HR manual when he made unauthorised access to personal information of SAPM Asim Bajwa and his family members, in the last week of July.

The show-cause notices were issued as per the recommendations of SECP's commission's report.
